We aim to make living environmentally, socially, and psychologically sustainable.
About us
The project of Hearthside Commons was started in July 2022 by a group of six friends; Nancy Winder, Parker MacDonald, Michelle MacDonald, Graham MacDonald, Miles Buchwaldt and Erin Hopkins. The group was originally brought together by a passion for soccer, but soon found out that we enjoyed many other hobbies together such as camping, tabletop games, beach volleyball (after a failed foray into slowpitch), and planning elaborate holiday parties.
The isolation of the Covid-19 pandemic has driven us to begin this project, as it was a time where we truly recognised how much we missed having a stronger community. We were unable to find such a living arrangement in current options, so we began this project to develop a better way of living. We selected the name of Hearthside Commons as we feel that hearths have often been places of gathering, community, and sharing of important stories and moments. We feel this encompasses the vision of our project.
